Sixteen Years

You guys.  I can’t believe it is my 16 year anniversary today!  It seems like just yesterday, we were getting married, and now we have four beautiful children, and a fun life together.  Since you are my friends, I wanted to share a fun thing my husband did for me this week.

First of all, lets be honest.  Some of us are still the same weight, and look the same as we did on our wedding day.  Others of us, like me, have had four children, and even though I still love the skin I am in, things fit a little different than they did back in the day.  Well, I haven’t worn my wedding ring in probably 4 years or so, because it fit too tight, after all of the fun body changes with having babies.

Well, my husband came up to me in the kitchen the other day, and said that he wanted to ask me something he had been wanting to ask for a long time.  He then held up a small wooden box with my wedding ring in it.  As he opened up the box, he told me that he would like for me to take money he had set aside, and go get my ring resized, as well as re-dipped and cleaned.  Then, I would be able to wear it from our 16th Anniversary on.

So, we went a couple days later to the jewelry store and had it all set up.  We were told we could pick up the ring on Tuesday after 5:00.  Turns out, I was in charge of a big church dinner that night, and wouldn’t be able to go pick it up until our Anniversary.  Tuesday comes, with him working, and me with a full day of decorating, and getting dinner ready for this church gathering.  As I am in our kitchen, hurrying to run out the door to finalize details at the church, I turn around and there is my husband, with my beautiful wedding ring in his hand.  He knew that I really wished I had it to wear to this dinner, and had gone to the jewelry store early to pick it up and surprise me.  I tell you, this is one of the best gifts I have ever received.  Now, I wear my ring and don’t ever want to take it off. 🙂

I know this probably isn’t a big deal to many, but to me, on this Anniversary, I feel very blessed to have a companion who loves me unconditionally.  I wish you all the same kind of love to come into your lives.  May you, my friends, have fun experiences like these, where you can find joy, amidst all of the darkness in the world.  Happy 16th Anniversary to my favorite man in the world.  I love you to eternity and beyond!
