Hello friends! With the holiday’s in full swing, and Christmas just around the corner, many of us have family and friends who will be coming to visit at our homes. As a busy mom of 4 children, I know that overhauling every room, isn’t the best option at the moment. However, I know that there are small updates, that can be done in a day, that can add just the touch you need, to get your home the way you would like for company.
When we moved into our house, the previous owners had painted a bathroom with a chocolate brown paint. This made the room not only dark, but it kind of felt depressing. I knew right away, that I wanted to change the paint color, and lighten it up a little. Now, I will say that eventually, I would love to paint the cabinets, put in a new mirror, new light fixture, and new shower surround. For now though, a fresh coat of paint was just the ticket to give this bathroom a face lift, and it only took me one day!
My awesome friends at Homeright, invited me to be in their Refresh Your Walls Today contest, and sent me this PaintStick EZ-Twist, to try out. I am in love! How many times have you been painting with a roller, and had the paint drip all over you and the floor, as you moved it from the tray to the wall? I know I have done this many times, and then tracked lovely footprints of paint all over, after stepping in said drips. (eyeroll) Using the PaintStick EZ-Twist, helped me to paint my walls in a clean, streamlined, and quick way, with no mess! Woohoo!
Here is how I was able to paint my bathroom in a day, even with carpool and other mom duties!
First, I taped off around the mirror and a few other areas around the shower. Most of the edges I just used an angled paintbrush, to get a good line.
Next, I grabbed my Clark + Kensington Paint + Primer In One can, and mixed up my paint with a stir stick.
I grabbed my PaintStick EZ-Twist, and attached the silver end to it, along with the roller cover it came with.
The black fill tube was then attached to the edge of my paint can, with the skinnier side up, and the clip over the edge.
Then I attached the PaintStick to the fill tube, and the paint tube filled up as I twisted the end of the stick.
So quick and easy, and then it was on to painting!
I twisted the end of the stick, as I needed more paint added into my roller cover.
The paint went on so smoothly, and the length of the PaintStick, helped with the places that were higher up on the wall.
It even worked well in tight spaces. For the areas that the roller didn’t cover, I went around and used a small paintbrush along the edges.
After a couple of paint coats, and some drying time in between, I was able to surprise my husband, as he came home from work, with a newly painted bathroom! *Yes, with 4 kids I have smudges on my mirror. 🙂
With tape removed, here is the final color on the wall!
This room is so much lighter now, and a place I actually want to get ready in. As I was doing my makeup in the mirror, I noticed how much brighter the light reflects off of having a lighter colored paint, and I am loving it. I am excited to do more updates on this room, down the road, and use my Homeright PaintStick EZ-Twist for more fun painting projects around the house! It was so easy to use, and the clean up was so quick! Bring on the holiday’s, my bathroom is ready to be enjoyed!
